Virtue & Benefits

"Taj" means crown — a reference to the Prophet ﷺ as the crown of all creation. This is one of the most celebrated and widely recited salawat, known for its spiritual power, eloquent praise of the Prophet ﷺ, and use as a remedy for illness and difficulty.

When to Recite

Regular daily recitation. Especially at times of illness, hardship, or seeking blessing.

Recommended Times: 11 times after each prayer, or as regularly as possible.

The Darood

اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى سَيِّدِنَا وَمَوْلَانَا مُحَمَّدٍ صَاحِبِ التَّاجِ وَالْمِعْرَاجِ وَالْبُرَاقِ وَالْعَلَمِ دَافِعِ الْبَلَاءِ وَالْوَبَاءِ وَالْقَحْطِ وَالْمَرَضِ وَالْأَلَمِ اسْمُهُ مَكْتُوبٌ مَرْفُوعٌ مَشْفُوعٌ مَنْقُوشٌ فِي اللَّوْحِ وَالْقَلَمِ سَيِّدِ الْعَرَبِ وَالْعَجَمِ جِسْمُهُ مُقَدَّسٌ مُعَطَّرٌ مُطَهَّرٌ مُنَوَّرٌ فِي الْبَيْتِ وَالْحَرَمِ شَمْسِ الضُّحَى بَدْرِ الدُّجَى صَدْرِ الْعُلَى نُورِ الْهُدَى كَهْفِ الْوَرَى مِصْبَاحِ الظُّلَمِ جَمِيلِ الشِّيَمِ شَفِيعِ الْأُمَمِ صَاحِبِ الْجُودِ وَالْكَرَمِ
Allahumma salli 'ala Sayyidina wa Mawlana Muhammadin sahib it-taji wal-mi'raji wal-buraqi wal-'alam, dafi'il-bala'i wal-waba'i wal-qahti wal-maradi wal-alam, ismuhu maktubun marfu'un mashfu'un manqushun fil-lawhi wal-qalam, sayyidil-'arabi wal-'ajam, jismuhu muqaddasun mu'attarun mutahharun munawwarun fil-bayti wal-haram, shamsi-d-duha, badri-d-duja, sadri-l-'ula, nuri-l-huda, kahfi-l-wara, misbahi-z-zulam, jamilish-shiyam, shafi'il-umam, sahib il-judi wal-karam
Meaning: O Allah, send blessings upon our master and leader Muhammad ﷺ — the owner of the crown, the Ascension, the Buraq, and the Banner; the repeller of affliction, plague, drought, disease, and pain; whose name is written, elevated, interceded for, and engraved upon the Preserved Tablet and the Pen; the master of Arabs and non-Arabs; whose blessed body is sacred, fragrant, pure, and illuminated in the Sacred House and Sanctuary; the sun of the forenoon, the full moon of the night, the foremost of the exalted, the light of guidance, the refuge of the world, the lamp of darkness, the most beautiful in character, the intercessor of nations, the owner of generosity and honour.
